SUMIKA Taishocho
A Showa-era home, two stories of living, ten minutes from Nagoya Station.
This house was built in the late 1950s, in a quiet residential stretch of Taishocho, Nakamura-ku. For decades, it was someone's everyday — their kitchen table, their staircase, their front door. When we found it, the bones were good. The wooden beams overhead were still solid. The layout still made sense. Working with our design team, we preserved the original structure — the exposed beams and pillars, the fusuma sliding doors between rooms, the floor plan that lets the house breathe as one connected space across two floors.
1F / Ground Floor
Downstairs, a living room opens into a dining area and kitchen. This is where your group will gravitate — making plans for the day over coffee, cooking a late dinner after exploring the city, spreading out with nowhere to be. There's a shower room and laundry facilities tucked in neatly.
2F / Upper Floor
Upstairs, three bedrooms: double beds, semi-doubles, and traditional futons laid on tatami-style flooring. Enough room for ten people to sleep well without feeling like strangers.
This isn't a place that tries to impress you. It's a place that lets you settle in.
